Digital technology can support dental assessment, treatment planning and the production of selected dental appliances.
At Elite Dental Studio, technology is used when it offers a meaningful clinical benefit. It supports—but does not replace—the judgement, experience and examination of your dental clinician.
iTero Digital Intraoral Scanner
The iTero scanner creates a three-dimensional digital representation of your teeth and bite using a handheld scanning wand.
Depending on the treatment being considered, a digital scan may be used for:
Invisalign and other orthodontic planning
Monitoring changes in tooth position
Designing selected restorations or appliances
Helping patients understand proposed treatment
Reducing the need for conventional impression material in suitable cases
An iTero scan is not an X-ray and does not show every structure beneath the gums or inside the teeth. Other diagnostic records may still be required.
CBCT Three-Dimensional Imaging
Cone beam computed tomography, commonly called CBCT, produces three-dimensional images of the teeth, jaws and surrounding structures.
A CBCT scan may be recommended for selected cases such as:
Dental implant assessment and planning
Evaluating certain impacted teeth
Complex root-canal assessment
Reviewing jaw anatomy
Selected surgical or orthodontic cases
CBCT uses ionising radiation, so it is not carried out routinely or simply because the equipment is available. Your clinician will consider whether the additional information is justified and explain why the scan has been recommended.
Digital Dental X-Rays
Dental X-rays can reveal information that may not be visible during an examination, including decay between teeth, bone levels and some problems affecting tooth roots.
The type and number of X-rays taken depend on your symptoms, dental history and clinical findings. They are only recommended when the expected diagnostic benefit justifies the exposure.
SprintRay Dental 3D Printing
Our SprintRay Pro 95 dental 3D printer supports the production of selected dental models, components and appliances as part of a digital workflow.
A digital scan can be converted into a computer-designed model before an appropriate item is printed using material intended for its specific purpose.
Not every restoration or appliance is suitable for in-practice printing. Your clinician will explain how your particular item will be produced and whether external laboratory work is required.
Biostar Appliance Technology
Biostar pressure-forming technology can be used to produce selected thermoplastic dental appliances from an accurate model of the teeth.
Depending on the clinical requirements, this type of equipment may support the manufacture of items such as retainers, mouthguards or other removable appliances.
The design and material must be chosen according to the intended use, so an assessment is required before an appliance is provided.
Biolase Dental Laser
Dental lasers can be used for selected procedures involving teeth or soft tissues.
Whether laser treatment is suitable depends on the procedure, the condition being treated and the clinician’s assessment. A laser does not automatically replace conventional instruments, eliminate the need for anaesthetic or make every treatment painless.
Your clinician should explain the proposed approach, alternatives and relevant risks before treatment.

When clinically appropriate, digital systems may help by:

Supporting communication about treatment
Allowing measurements and records to be stored digitally
Supporting selected treatment-planning workflows
Reducing the need for conventional impressions in some cases
Helping different members of the dental team or laboratory share information
The benefit depends on the individual case. Technology cannot guarantee a particular result, shorten every treatment or remove all discomfort.
Will Every Patient Need Digital Scans?
No. The records required depend on your symptoms, oral health and proposed treatment.
Some patients may only require a clinical examination and small dental X-rays. Others may benefit from an iTero scan, CBCT imaging or additional records.
