Overbite - this is the term to describe when the teeth of your top / upper jaw rest in front of the teeth of your bottom / lower jaw when your mouth is closed or biting. Just like the name alludes to, the teeth are positioned over other teeth and not positioned equally.
Underbite - this is the complete opposite of an overbite (which is explained above). With this, the teeth on the bottom / lower jaw sit more forward and on top of the teeth of the top / upper jaw when your mouth is closed and / or biting down.
Crossbite - a crossbite is almost like a mixture of an overbite and an underbite as certain parts of the teeth and smile overlap and cross over each other. In essence, this is caused as the upper and lower jaws don’t match up and cause this misalignment.
Gap Teeth - while a gap between teeth can often be seen between the two front teeth on the upper jaw; gaps can realistically be between any teeth in your mouth. This can be caused by genetics or even lifestyle factors over time, but Invisalign can help to correct this.
Open Bite - when it comes to an open bite, the top teeth and the bottom teeth don’t fully meet when biting down. The teeth farther back in the mouth may meet, but usually the teeth in the middle don’t and this results in a large gap which we refer to as an open bite.
Crowded Teeth - unlike gap teeth which have too much space and extra room between teeth, crowded teeth instead have too little space between them. This causes them to jut inwards or outwards as they do not have enough space to sit straight in harmony.
